Black Forest Colony is a 2000 acre private gated community located in the Sullivan Catskills within 2 hrs from NYC in Glen Spey, NY. Once a private preserve for the CEO of Singer Sewing Machine, George Ross McKenzie who had several summer homes (grand mansions) for his family, some are still standing and have been beautifully maintained.
Black Forest is a quiet and rustic community that consists of 800 acres of residential lots which remains mostly undeveloped and 1200 acres of “forever green” parkland for all to enjoy. There are approximately 70 homes in the community and only about half are lucky enough to call this beautiful place home.
With marked trails on the 1200 acres of parkland, all can enjoy hiking, cross-country skiing and ATV riding out your front door. The Millbrook passes through the center of Black Forest for trout fishing or going for a dip in one of the many waterfalls/swimming holes this enchanted and charming preserve offers. Lastly, at the heart of the community is a spectucular gorge that makes Black Forest a hidden gem.
As I’ve lived in Black Forest for 10 years I’m able to show you what makes this idyllic community special and why I love it. Call me for a tour.
