When considering lakefront living in Upstate New York, you need to ask yourself what kind of lake would appeal to you. Your first question to consider is do you want a motorboat lake vs. non-motorboat lake? Lakes that permit motorboats or personal water crafts are typically active and an exciting way to enjoy your time. There’s something to be said for having your own dock, boat/pwc and heading out onto the lake to enjoy the day. Some lakes have restaurants with slips for patrons to pull up and have dinner, very nice way to spend an evening.
Non-motor boat lakes can be private and managed by and an HOA. These lakes will occasionally permit boats with electric motors and have common areas such as a beach to store your kayak/canoe for ease of use.
Two very different lifestyles, both offer a spectacular way to live in Upstate New York.
